Federal Armed Contract Guards go on Strike in Dallas

May 26, 2015 – Dallas Texas.

The Federal Armed Security Officers who work for Paragon Systems and provide security to all federal buildings in the North Texas area went on strike Tuesday forcing the government to scramble to make other arrangements.

The unionized officers, are striking over the treatment of employees by Paragon Systems, a government contractor based in Herndon Virginia.

It has been alleged that Paragon has begun threatening striking employees with the possibility of arrest if they don’t turn in their company owned firearms during the strike.

Paragon Systems, a Securitas subsidiary, has a rather extensive history of violations involving the National Labor Relations Act.  Charges ranging from restraint, intimidation and coercion of union members to refusals to provide legally required information.

While this event is tragic in the overall scheme of things it finally puts to bed the persuasive belief that Federal Armed Security Officers cannot under ANY circumstances go out on strike.

We will be watching this unfold.
