Man sentenced after stealing money from labor union
Man used debit card to make withdrawals from checking account
A Barrington man who admitted stealing more than $13,000 from a labor union has been sentenced.
Authorities said Gregory Paradis, 37, was elected as president and senior steward of the Seabrook Nuclear Security Officers Association in May 2011. As such, he had control of the union's checking account.
In January 2013, the vice president told Seabrook police he believed Paradis was stealing from the account.
Authorities said Paradis stole $13,493.90 between May 2011 and December 2012 by using a debit card to make cash withdrawals from the account.
He initially denied the allegations, but eventually admitted his actions to investigators and helped them determine exactly how much money was missing, officials said.
Paradis was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to repay the union in full.
